HANK’S LAW IS OFFICIAL!
After five years of lobbying, Hank’s Law was signed by Governor Mike DeWine on December 14, 2023. Hank’s Law is the first bill in the state of Ohio to bring awareness to sarcoma. It will designate July as “Sarcoma Awareness Month” (with a yellow ribbon) in the state of Ohio. It will also be the first bill in the United States to bring awareness to both dogs and people with sarcoma.
As of this writing, 592 bills and resolutions have been introduced and Hank’s Law is only the 13th one that has been passed and signed by the Governor! Thank you to everyone who gave written and oral testimony to make this possible.
Imagine this bridge illuminated yellow. Thanks to the city of Dublin, on July 1, it will be lit up yellow to celebrate “Hank’s Law” in the state of Ohio.
The Dublin Link is the longest single tower S-shaped suspension bridge in the world. It began construction the same year I became a lobbyist and was finished the anniversary week of March 14 when Hank’s Law became effective in the state of Ohio.
Thank you to the City of Dublin for being the first landmark to light up for “Hank’s Law” which will bring awareness to the signs of sarcoma in dogs and people. The Hank Kabel Sarcoma Foundation appreciates your city’s support to bring awareness and to celebrate together.
Special thanks to Senator Tim Schaffer, everyone who testified, and to the legislature for taking Hank’s Law from a dream to reality. Also, a big thank you to Vanessa Gibson for telling me about the Dublin Link or this celebration wouldn’t be possible.
Thank you to Mr. & Mrs. Mike DeWine for this thoughtful note! We appreciate you - and your support of our mission!

South Central Power Awards Grant to Provide Books to Nationwide Children's Hospital Cancer Patients
Thank you South Central Power for awarding The Hank Kabel Sarcoma Foundation a grant to give kids with cancer at Nationwide Children's Hospital copies of "Hank the Miracle Dog." Dogs get sarcoma five times more than humans, with children getting sarcoma the second most common. This generous donation will not only bring awareness to the importance of comparative oncology but will also put a smile on these young childrens' faces - just as Hank always did.
